Big news for Alex Fontana. Although the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup season is drawing to a close, the Swiss driver has been an important player in the drivers’ market over the last few weeks, with a number of teams changing their line-ups for the future. Alex started the championship with the AKKA ASP team at the wheel of a Mercedes AMG GT3 but has now been signed by Emil Frey Racing to drive the Jaguar G3, a project the constructor from Safenwil in the Zofingen district has built and developed in recent years. Alex was chosen thanks to the performance he has shown in endurance racing, firstly with McLaren and then Mercedes and will now driver car number 14 alongside Stephane Ortelli of Monaco and the Austrian Norbert Siedler. With this new team, Alex will once again be competing in the classification reserved for professionals.

“I’m proud to be joining the Emil Frey Jaguar Racing family. We’ve known one another for a long time but while has always been a lot of mutual respect and admiration, we have never had the chance to work together. The multiple on-going racing programmes has led to a seat being freed up for the Barcelona 3 Hours and naturally I grasped this opportunity immediately. This will be an all-Swiss project and I’m very proud to driving for a Swiss team once again following my karting years, the time with Jenzer Motorsport and the partnership with Kessel Racing. I would also like to thank AKKA ASP and Mercedes AMG for having allowed me to take up this offer, racing with them and Ludovic Badey and above all Daniele Perfetti has been an incredible experience.”
