Alex Fontana on the grid for the Italian GT4 Championship with Centri Porsche Ticino

26/03/2026
Alex Fontana is ready to make his debut in ACI Sport’s new Italian GT4 Championship at the wheel of Centri Porsche Ticino’s Porsche Cayman GT4. After narrowly missing out on the Pro-Am 2nd Division title in the 2025 Italian GT Cup Sprint Championship with the Swiss team, the Lugano-based driver is looking forward to a new challenge, once again in a a series organized by ACI Sport.

The 2026 GT4 Italy calendar features a total of five rounds. The season kicks off at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” on May 10, followed by the Vallelunga round. The mid-season race is being hosted by the Mugello circuit on July 26, before we enter the second half of the season at Imola on September 6. The championship is due to close at Monza, with the final round scheduled for October 11. This will be a virtual home race for Alex and Centri Porsche Ticino, given the geographical proximity. Support from Swiss fans could provide an extra boost as the outfit strives to bring a strong finish to the inaugural GT4 Italy season.

GT4 Italy will become part of the ACI Racing Weekends starting with the inaugural round at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli,” featuring a format of two 50-minute races plus one lap. Fontana will compete in the Pro-Am class alongside Danilo Arfini, a driver from the AF Race Performance Academy. After a 2025 season in which Arfini gained experience with GT4 cars in the X-GT4 Supersport series, 2026 represents a new and ambitious opportunity for the Centri Porsche Ticino driver.

As was the case in last season’s GT Cup Sprint, Alex will once again partner with a driver from the AF Academy for the 2026 GT4 Italy series. This is yet another demonstration of the growth of the academy’s drivers and the development path traced for them, from targeted coaching and analysis sessions all the way to on-track competition, thanks to the professionalism that Alex driver has honed over the years.

Fontana’s own most recent experience in a GT4 dates back to the 2022-2023 GT4 European Series: in the 2022 season, competing in the Pro-Am class with Centri Porsche Ticino, Alex secured one victory and five podium finishes, finishing the championship in fourth place. 2026 will, moreover, mark the fifth year of the partnership between Fontana and Centri Porsche Ticino, the now well-established Swiss team.

Im delighted to be representing Centri Porsche Ticino once again in the ACI Sport championships.
The 2025 season in the GT Cup was exciting, full of battles and with great support from the fans. We’re now focused on this new adventure in the GT4 championship. Getting back into the Cayman after years of GT3 will take some adjustment, but I can’t wait to hit the track with Danilo, who will showcase the fruits of his work at the AF Academy”.
