Alex Fontana will be competing in the first round of the Italian GT Championship Sprint GT Cup, organized by ACI Sport.The event will be held at the Misano World Circuit, dedicated to Marco Simoncelli, from the 3rd to the 5th of May 2024 and will see the Swiss driver from Lugano back with the Centri Porsche Ticino team following last year’s unfortunate Gulf 12 Hours when they were forced out of the race due to a qualifying accident.
On this occasion Alex will be accompanied by Matej Knez, one of the drivers from his AF Academy who from this year will be competing alongside him in several international races.The two drivers will be participating in this race at the wheel of the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup, the car with which Fontana has already competed on various occasions, with a victory and three pole positions in qualifying.
The Swiss driver’s weekend will begin on Friday the 3rd of May at 15:55 with the first and only free practice session lasting 45 minutes. The qualifying phase will be divided into two sessions of 15 minutes each and will be held on the Saturday morning from 9:30. The first of the two races, both lasting 50 minutes plus one extra lap, will start on the Saturday afternoon at 18:45. The second race will instead start at 16:00 on Sunday the 5th of May.
