Alex Fontana and Car Collection team up for the next challenge at the Nürburgring 24 Hours

05/03/2026
Alex Fontana will be driving the Porsche 911 GT3 R fielded by Goroyan RT by Car Collection in the 54th edition of the Nürburgring 24 Hours, scheduled for 14-17 May 2026. This will be the second time the Ticino driver has competed in the Eifel classic and will be appearing for the third consecutive year on the Nordschleife circuit, the legendary track stretching over 20 kilometres through the Eifel forests.

The Lugano-born driver will once again defend the colours of the team with which he competed in two rounds of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) in 2025, achieving two class podium finishes. In addition to the flagship race of the ADAC endurance calendar, the 2026 programme also includes participation in an NLS event, essential preparation for one of the most demanding competitions in motorsport. The line-up put together by Car Collection for the German marathon will consist of Artur Goroyan, Oleg Kvitka, Nathanaël Berthon and Alex Fontana, entered in the SP9 Pro-Am class. Fontana has already competed in several international competitions with the Porsche prepared by Car Collection and won the 2023 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance title in the Pro-Am class. He is seen as one of the Weissach manufacturer’s aces around the world.

Goroyan, the 2025 NLS champion in the TCR class, was sharing driving duties with Fontana in the two races contested last season, securing two podium finishes in the Pro-Am class. On that occasion, the Lugano-based driver also distinguished himself by securing pole position in wet conditions. Kvitka, a protagonist in the SP3T class with a TCR car, narrowly missed the podium at the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours with a fourth place finish in his category. Berthon, a former Audi Sport works driver in touring car races and an endurance racing specialist, completes a crew that combines experience and speed on one of the most selective tracks in the world.

For Car Collection, this marks a return to the 24 Hours of Nürburgring after their last participation in 2023. The Walluf-based team will prepare for the event through four selected rounds of the NLS calendar, including the two official qualifying events required by ADAC regulations. Due to scheduling conflicts, Fontana will only be involved in the opening round.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R will take to the track in a livery inspired by the colours of the Armenian flag, maintaining the visual continuity of the project launched in 2025. The difference will be in that this year the team will be running the 992.2, the most up-to-date version of the 911 GT3 R introduced at the end of last season. The technical developments introduced have aimed at improving driver feel and car handling over long distances.

For Fontana, the 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours will mark a return after his 2021 experience, when he finished 5th in the SP9 Pro-Am class at the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo. The experience gained in 2025 and the preparatory work in the NLS championship with the German team will be key to presenting a competitive technical package with ambitions of competing at the forefront of the Pro-Am category.

Alex Fontana
The 24 Hours of Nürburgring is one of the most challenging races there is on the endurance scene. Returning for the second time to the Eifel classic and tackling the Nordschleife for the third consecutive year means I’ll be starting with a solid foundation of experience. I know the team, Artur and I raced together in 2025, a decisive factor on a track where details make all the difference. The goal is to maximise every preparation session in the NLS so that we can go into the race with a competitive package and fight for a top result in Pro-Am."
