For Alex Fontana it is a silver hat-trick: the driver from Lugano concluded his great season in the GT World Challenge Europe with an en-plein of titles in the Silver Cup class. To the successes in the Sprint trophy and in the Overall combined classification was added the one in the Endurance trophy, thanks to the seventh place in his category in the 3 Hours of Barcelona, final race of the 2021 edition. Fontana led a comeback in the second stint, after a puncture suffered by crew-mate Rolf Ineichen in the first segment of the race, before handing over the wheel of the number 14 Lamborghini Huracà n GT3 Evo to Ricardo Feller, who completed the job. "This triple Silver Cup title in the GT World Challenge becomes one of the milestones of my career," commented the Ticino driver. "On the eve of the race we were the leaders, but nothing is ever a foregone conclusion and the initial puncture made life more difficult for us. However, we did not lose our composure and managed to take the Endurance title. Already in 2018, again with the Emil Frey Racing team, Fontana had won the same trophy.
