Alex Fontana returns to International GT with Porsche GT3R

20/03/2025
Alex Fontana will also be on track for the 2025 season in the International GT Open. The Ticino driver will continue his adventure with Car Collection Motorsport in the GT Sport series dedicated to GT3 cars. The German team has the same line-up on the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) in the Pro-Am class, so ‘Hash’ - an American driver who grew up in the AF Academy nursery - will once again be alongside his Swiss coach driver and partner.

The 2024 season marked the Ticino driver's debut in the International GT Open, a continental series that added to a curriculum full of experience on board Gran Turismo cars. The highlight certainly remains the victory at the end of race-2 at Barcelona in the Pro-Am class. A result that does not, however, represent a point of arrival, but rather a departure for 2025, where the Lugano driver will continue his series alongside new drivers entering the world of GT competition.

The format of the Spanish series remains unchanged: two sprint races of 70 and 60 minutes respectively, with a pit stop window in which to change the driver on board; on the other hand, the Spa and Monza rounds will be run in the endurance format, i.e. a single 500 km race (or 2h 55' + 1 lap as maximum duration).

Winter Tests will open the season from Barcelona on 25 and 26 March in order to prepare the car in the best possible way, while the championship will officially start with the Portimao round on 25-27 April.

Alex Fontana: ‘It is fantastic to be back in the International GT Open in the colours of Car Collection Motorsport and our Porsche. The calendar features circuits that ooze motorsport history and are an additional reason to push the whole team to achieve great results. The victory in Barcelona last year is a source of pride, as a result of the hard work done by the AF Academy, but we want to continue to improve for this 2025 season.
