Alex Fontana returns to the Nordschleife

23/07/2026
Following his gruelling outing at the Nürburgring 24 Hours last May, Alex Fontana is ready to get back behind the wheel on the legendary Nordschleife for the KW 6h ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen, the seventh round of the 2026 Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie. The event, scheduled to take place on the famous circuit stretching over 20 kilometres – which combines the Nordschleife and the GP Sprint circuit – is the only six-hour race of the season and serves as a crucial test ahead of the championship finale.

The driver from Ticino will once again be on the starting grid in the Goroyan RT by Car Collection Porsche 911 GT3 R, continuing the racing programme he shares with the German team. Rounding out the line-up will be Artur Goroyan and Nico Menzel, two drivers with extensive experience on the treacherous bends of the ‘Green Hell’. Goroyan is now a regular fixture in the Nürburgring endurance races, whilst Menzel, a works Porsche driver, is fresh from his first NLS victory of the season, secured during the sixth round in June.

For Fontana, this marks a return to a circuit which, season after season, has become one of the defining moments of his sporting career. Having consolidated his experience in the world’s most demanding endurance races, the Ticino-born driver continues to strengthen his bond with the Nürburgring, the setting for increasingly impressive performances.

This is also borne out by the results achieved in recent seasons. In 2025, Fontana distinguished himself with a pole position and two podium finishes in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, performances that confirmed the competitiveness of the Porsche 911 GT3 R prepared by Car Collection and the driver’s ability to perform at the very highest level on one of the most technical and demanding circuits on the international circuit.

The KW 6h ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen therefore represents a new and important test. With over 170 corners and conditions that can change radically within a matter of minutes, the Nürburgring Nordschleife continues to present a unique challenge for drivers, teams and cars. The race will require a perfect balance between speed, strategy and traffic management – all fundamental aspects for aiming for a significant result.

For Alex Fontana, this will be another opportunity to build on the progress he has shown in recent years and continue the journey he has embarked upon with Car Collection Motorsport, with the aim of once again being among the frontrunners in one of Europe’s most prestigious endurance races.

Alex Fontana
It’s always a pleasure to return to the Nürburgring, a circuit that presents a unique challenge in every respect and where I’ve been able to gain experience season after season. The six-hour race requires a different approach to the traditional NLS rounds: it will be vital to work precisely with the team and my co-drivers, managing every phase of the race without making any mistakes. With Car Collection, we have already shown that we have good potential, and the aim will be to put together a solid weekend, making the most of all the work done so far and striving to achieve a result that lives up to our expectations.”
