12/03/2018

The Swiss driver will be at the wheel of a Jaguar in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance and Sprint Cup

On the occasion of the opening to the public of the new Emil Frey Racing headquarters, the Swiss team has announced its plans for the 2018 season. Following his dynamic 2017 performance, Alex Fontana has been confirmed as one of the works drivers. The Swiss driver joined Emil Frey Racing for the last race of the season in Barcelona, turning in a fabulous performance that convinced the team to give Alex a drive for the 2018 season. Alex will share the Jaguar with the Canadian Mikael Grenier and the South African Adrian Zaugg and will be involved in the two Sprint Cup races of the Italian round at Misano and in his home race at Monza in the Endurance series. Fontana will also be driving the endurance races at Silverstone and Le Castellet. It is possible that the programme will be extended to include other events.

Alex Fontana
“I’m delighted to be able to announce my plans for the 2018 season and to further the collaboration with Emil Frey Racing launched last year. We were a good fit for each other from the off and this has led to a natural extension of this all-Swiss relationship and without doubt the prospects for the coming year are really exciting. The Jaguar G3 is an incredible car developed by Emil Frey Racing and while on the one hand it has great potential, on the other we need to find the right balance to get the best out of it in terms of performance. We did so at Barcelona last year and we’ll be continuing in this direction in 2018 too. Naturally, I’d like to thank Emil and Lorenz Frey for their faith in me and I hope to repay them with the commitment and dedication necessary on track to be as competitive as possible.”
