It’s like I was saying last year when I was at the head of the European Formula 3 Open championship, which I went on to win.
Sure, I’d recorded a few good results, but along with scoring big points you have to know how to be consistent and when to settle.
In Germany we might have done better had there not been a misunderstanding with the engineer during qualifying. In terms of the race, starting from sixth on the grid, fifth and sixth place finishes were perfectly acceptable results considering that my race pace never matched that of the leading pair. This is why even though, like you, I'm eager to get ahead of the field, I have to say I’m reasonably satisfied with the results we came away with. Six points-scoring finishes in the first six races of my debut Formula 2 season can’t be bad and so I’m quite happy.
Consistency pays. And so far we’ve been nothing if not consistent. I’m sure that soon we’ll also be rewarded.
Big thanks to those fan club members present at the Nürburgring, the legendary Roby Albizzati, Luca Meroni, Daniel Schärer, Camma, Ronny, Paolino, and Silvano Taddei as well as the ever-present and invaluable Gianni Vescovi
