After having completed the two-day test aboard the Williams Formula 2, I was enormously impressed by a number of factors. Undoubtedly the engine equipped with Overboost and producing over 500 hp was one of them, as was the performance of the car in general. But what has remained with me is the freedom the car allows the driver. This single-seater equipped with an Audi Turbo engine allows you to change the aerodynamics of the front wing as you want, to adjust the stiffness of the rear anti-roll bar, to engage the Overboost facility as and when you want, to choose the engine mapping with which you feel most comfortable and, of course, to adjust the brake bias. It’s a car that in terms of the learning curve brings you very close to Formula 1 and is, without a shadow of doubt, great fun to drive.
