The first championship points are on the board. Sure, it would have been nice to score a few more, but better than nothing. Last year, for one reason or another, I took ten races to get those first points on the board. This time we managed to get something out of the first weekend. For the moment that'll do. Only “that’ll do” because we’re still well off the level of performance we know we're capable of. Despite the progress made over the course of the weekend, there's still a lot to do on the car if we're to get the best out of the new tyre compound introduced by Pirelli.
The weekend was also particularly enjoyable thanks to the fans and friends who gathered to watch the race and in the best Barcelona tradition pass an evening together at the Carpe Diem. Thanks so much to those who came and to all those who followed the race from home!
The next race will be next month in Austria so we have plenty of time to prepare and improve before going hunting for big points… and who knows, in the meantime I might even have the chance to drive something else: watch this space!
