Test extra millimetre

01/09/2013

Once again we showed that we’re capable of producing raw speed. On the Spa circuit, perhaps the most formidable and technical of tracks, I recorded the sixth best qualifying time. In contrast with drivers ahead of me, I had no one to slipstream and so the result was all the more encouraging.

Nonetheless, due to the loosening of the cable supporting the floor, inscrutineering my car proved to be a little over a millimetre lower than permitted. I gained no real advantage but the fact remains that the car was not legal and therefore I was relegated to the back of the grid. As if that were not enough, in Race 1 I punctured a tyre thanks to another driver involuntarily hitting my car at the start. In Race 2, once again starting from the back of the grid, I climbed up to 12th place by the finish in a field of 27 drivers, recording the 3rd fastest time in the process. We at least showed we were competitive. Soon things will turn our way and when that happens we’ll get the results we deserve. In the meantime enjoy the video of one of my best overtaking manoeuvres on Sunday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inHLXrJm4tE
