That’s how they want me

18/07/2012

I’m pretty sure now that that’s how they want me: angry, aggressive, trailing but anxious to catch up. After all the comebacks (fun but ultimately frustrating) accumulated this year, I think someone must have had the bright idea of casting some kind of spell on me to make sure I always have to come from behind, overtaking and putting on a show.

Race 1 at Brands Hatch saw my first retirement of the season, with a wrecked Williams, after eight straight races finishing in the points.

The Russian driver, unintentionally if a little stupidly, actuated his Overboost (an extra 75 hp for six seconds) at full-throttle in the slight kink in main straight and what’s more while it was pouring with rain.  As he span right in front of me I had nowhere to go (as you can see in the video) and was then in turn shunted by the Iranian Kourosh Khani, another innocent victim. Race 2 was, of course, another fight-back, from 12th to 7th, with two great passes (something I’m proud to say that you don’t see everyday at Brands Hatch).

Thanks to all those who continue to follow my fortunes on TeleTicino or the Internet: you always help inspire my comebacks… which I nonetheless intend to interrupt with much better results in qualifying starting with the next round at Le Castellet.
