A show for the fans

12/09/2014

We all know by now how the Italian GP at Monza went. A Race 1 that was as usual shorter than it should have been made for another uphill weekend. There was nothing to be done to avoid the driver who lost control of his car behind me and we just had to accept our fate. I was bitterly disappointed for the many fans who had travelled by coach or car to watch me – they really deserved something better! Perhaps this was the motivation that enabled me to fight back from 22nd place on the grid to 10th at the finish of the second race in which hardly anyone was overtaking. I gave it everything, knowing that there would be plenty of people watching on the TV (thanks RSI!). I hop I gave you all something to cheer about. I asked an awful lot of my car and six laps from the end the right-hand mirror decided it had enough. I couldn’t see anything of what was going on behind me. I think that 10th place is a decent result that goes some way to repaying all those who were present and those who followed the race from home with their usual passion. I’d like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being there and for always supporting me! And now on to Russia.
