When the going gets tough

09/07/2014

It’s no secret that the start to this season has hardly gone to plan. I was unable to achieve anything concrete at Silverstone too, with a less than sparkling qualifying session in the wet. On the bright side, I did get away to two great starts and was going well in Race 2, climbing from 15th to 10th on the first lap before my race came to a premature end after a collision. The other driver and I had been side-by-side for six corners and on the seventh we collided. The race officials have blamed me and given me a five-place starting grid penalty to carry into the next race. I don’t believe that I was at fault as there really was nowhere else I could go at that point on the track. However, I’d prefer not to talk about it and leave you to make up your own minds after watching the video of the incident.

It’s a difficult period without doubt, but that’s life; it’ll stroke you one moment and punch you the next, and sport is just the same. Even with the five-place penalty I’ll be going to Germany with the same determination as ever and I’ll take what’s coming to me, penalties not withstanding.

I’d like to thank you all for your continued, invaluable support, it means a lot to me.
