Alex Fontana ready to return to the Nordschleife

10/09/2025
Alex Fontana will be returning to the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit for the second consecutive year to compete in the seventh and eighth rounds of the 2025 Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) Endurance. The world’s longest permanent race track – with over 20 kilometres making up the forest circuit nicknamed the “Green Hell” – hosts in its various configurations a full season of endurance races organised by ADAC. Alex Fontana will make his seasonal debut in the NLS on the only weekend with two races: this will be the only time that racing will also be staged on a Sunday in the 2025 NLS calendar, with the exception of the two qualifying races for the Nürburgring 24h.

The Lugano-based driver will be defending the Car Collection Motorsport colours in the ADAC ACAS Cup and the ADAC Reinoldus-Langstreckenrennen, the two four-hour races to be held over the weekend of 13-14 September. This will not be a completely new experience for Fontana as he has already competed in a round of the NLS in 2024 with the Walluf team – finishing on the Pro-Am class podium – but that time he was at the wheel of an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2. For this seasonal debut, the Swiss driver will be making his first appearance at the Green Hell in a Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), a car in which he has gained great experience over the course of his career, most recently in the International GT Open. However, the Nürburgring Nordschleife is an atypical track, requiring an “ad hoc” set-up for the Eifel circuit, which is why the German team’s knowledge combined with that of Alex Fontana will be key to tackling the busy weekend programme.

Alex will be joined by Artur Goroyan, class of 1988, a driver who has completed more than 1,000 laps at the Nürburgring Nordschleife during his career. His NLS debut – formerly known as VLN – came back in 2012 and he has raced mainly in the TCR class, with one victory and four podium finishes to his name in 2025. In GT3, the Armenian driver competed in the 2022 Dubai 24 Hours at the wheel of an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo. It will therefore be a challenge for him to adapt to the driving style required by the Weissach car, but he will be able to benefit from Alex Fontana’s valuable advice.

Finally, the ultimate unknown factor will be the weather: no rain is forecast for the weekend of 13-14 September, with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius, but the Green Hell has already surprised us in the past. Both races will be streamed live on the NĂĽrburgring Langstrecken-Serie YouTube channel.

Alex Fontana
“Just standing still and admiring the Nürburgring Nordschleife is something tha’ll send a shive down your spine and being able to race here makes you part of its history. I’m excited about returning to to the NLS for a second consecutive year and I would like to thank Car Collection Motorsport for placing their trust in me once again. Despite having a different car and crew from 2024, we want to make our mark again this year. We have two opportunities to do so, but we must not lose focus on the goal. The Green Hell does not forgive the slightest mistake and the weather conditions are a crazy variable, as I learned last year.”
