The F1 German Grand Prix was a bittersweet event for us. It was the the fourth round of the GP3 series and we were fresh from a great podium finish at Silverstone. In free practice we showed immediate speed, recording the 11th fastest time, but without having fitted the new tyres. Of the half of the field who like us were running on old rubber, I was the fastest.
In qualifying I just missed out on pole due to a slower car that obstructed me in the last corner, but still recorded fantastic third fastest time.
Unfortunately, I only managed four corners before being rammed and having to accept that my hopes for the weekend had been dashed.
Starting from near the back of the grid in Race 2, the only thing to do was have fun passing other cars and trying to make up as much ground as possible. I was certainly the driver overtaking the most, but it was never going to be enough to get me into the points.
As my coach Stephane Gudrun from the Lotus F1 Team says, we've already got the most difficult thing to find, pure speed. All the rest will follow.
Now I can only look forward to Budapest and the the circuit on which I drove to victory last year in F2.
